COLUMBIA POLICE INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY
On 01-04-14, at 1:47 A.M., officers were dispatched to the areas of Proctor Park & Bear Creek Park in reference to reports of shots being fired. Officers located two 17 year old male subjects walking south from the Parkade Park who reported they had been the victims of an attempted robbery.
The victims reported they were near the pavilion in the park when they were approached by two suspects. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victims report they told the suspects they did not have any money, and the suspect then hit him in the head with the gun several times. The victims ran from the area and report hearing several shots being fired as they ran. The victims did not know if the shots were being fired at them or not.
The victim who was struck in the head sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
Officers located a few shell casings in the snow near the pavilion.
The 2 suspects are described as 16 to 18 year old black males wearing hooded sweatshirts.
