COLUMBIA POLICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE ON NEWTON DRIVE
On 1/2/14 at 11:33 P.M., officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Newton Drive
in reference a shots fired call. The investigation revealed a woman arrived at the
residence and found a male subject lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. The victim,
23, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries and later
pronounced dead at 4:00 A.M. The victim's name is being withheld until his next of
kin can be notified. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released
once it becomes available. If anyone has any information regarding this case please
