Columbia Parks and Recreation is hosting a drop-in public meeting to gather input for the development of new pickleball courts at Albert-Oakland Park.
Citizens are invited to drop in from 6 to 7 p.m. at New Haven Elementary School (3301 New Haven Road) on November 19. They will be able to give input on the proposed plans. Parks and Recreation staff will be available to answer questions.
The project would entail the conversion of two sand volleyball courts to pickleball courts. There is funding in place from the Park Sales Tax for four pickleball courts; there is space to construct two additional courts at a later time when funding is available.
Pickleball is a sport similar to tennis, but played on a court with smaller dimensions. It's designed for those who want to stay physically active but avoid the rigors of tennis.
For more information about the Albert-Oakland pickleball courts, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 874-7460.
