Crosswalk Repair at 8th and Broadway will begin Monday, September 9

The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced today that beginning Monday September 9, 2013 J.C. Industries of Jefferson City, MO. will begin crosswalk repair at the intersection of Broadway and Eighth Street.

The work early this year to replace the crosswalks was completed in late spring. Since the work was completed, the pavers in the crosswalk have deteriorated unexpectedly. The work over the next 4 to 5 weeks will consist of removing the current pavers, grinding the concrete base, installing a layer of asphalt and replacement of the pavers.

The City of Columbia is seeking a remedy to the failure of the previously installed materials.

The repair work is scheduled to be completed no later than October 14, 2013. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible.
