CORRECTED RELEASE - Airport Emergency Drill to take place on Monday, September 9 starting at 5:00 PM

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

As required by the Federal Aviations Administration, FAR Part 139.325, the Columbia Regional Airport will conduct a tri-annual  full scale drill on Monday, September 9 at 5:00 PM to test the Airport Emergency Plan.

The drill will simulate the emergency landing and post landing break up of a 50 passenger regional jet (similar to those which fly in and out of COU) and ensuing fire.

The drill will take place on runway 13, the cross wind runway and will not affect normal operations at the airport. Those traveling to and from the airport to pick up arriving passengers or to board a flight should not be affected by the drill.

Media Note: Ample oppertunities for interviews, video and still photography, and simulation of a Joint Information Center (JIC) will occur. Media is encouraged to park in the designated parking areas which will be marked. Media is requested not to park on the shoulder of Airport Drive and attempt to walk into the fenced area. Only media with credintialed escorts are allowed on the airport operations side of the fence for security reasons.
