The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced today that beginning Thursday, September 5th, at 8:00 a.m. Sellenriek Construction, contractor for CenturyLink will begin installing fiber optic cable in a manhole located within the intersection of Hitt St. & Locust St to provide service to an apartment building. This work will result in lane closure within the intersection of Hitt & Locust between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The work should be completed and the road fully reopened by Thursday, September 12th, by 5:00 p.m.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible.
