Nevada Registered Sex Offender Arrested In Columbia for Statutory Sodomy In The First Degree
On 8/24/13 at approximately 10:25 P.M., officers were dispatched to University Hospital in reference to a child sexual assault that occurred earlier in the evening in the area of Broadway and Hinkson Creek. The investigation revealed a black male made contact with the thirteen year old male victim at the City of Columbia Wabash Bus Station located at 126 N Tenth Street. The black male and the thirteen year old struck up a conversation and got on the bus and traveled to different locations around Columbia. The black male and the thirteen year old victim got off the bus near Broadway and Hinkson Creek. The black male and the victim went to his homeless camp where he sexually assaulted the thirteen year old victim inside of a tent.
Officers located the camp and collected evidence of the assault but at the time did not locate the suspect. An officer contacted homeless male's downtown to see if anyone knew the black male suspect who lived near that camp site. The officer was given a name of a possible suspect. Another officer collected surveillance video from a business on Conley Road that helped identify the suspect. A separate officer contacted Denver Police Department to get a mug shot of the suspect and learned the suspect was a registered sex offender out of Nevada. A night shift officer took the photograph to businesses in his beat to see if anyone recognized the suspect in the photo. One of businesses the officer contacted said the suspect frequented the business.
The officer made contact with the suspect. Dwayne Robison, 29, at 1704 South Providence Road at 12:58 A.M. Robison was transported to a local hospital at that time but was not injured. Robison was released from the hospital at 2:59 P.M. on 8/28/13 and arrested for four counts of Statutory Sodomy in the first degree with a total bond of $400,000.00. Robison was transferred and released to the Boone County Jail.
This is another example of great police work by officers to locate the crime scene, get a name of the possible suspect, collect video surveillance, contact businesses with the suspect's photo and apprehend Robison so that no one else would be victimized by him.
