On August 10, several area youth captured honors in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition at Columbia's Cosmo Park. The winners of each age group are as follows:
Girls
Ages 6-7, Alyssa Trachsel, Total Score 56 ft.
Ages 10-11, Eryn Puett, Total Score 224 ft.
Boys
Ages 6-7, Kedrick Harris, Total Score 93 ft.
Ages 8-9, Colbin Clark, Total Score 166 ft.
Age 10-11, Cooper Sutton, Total Score 262 ft.
Age 12-13, Andrew Whelihan, Total Score 313 ft.
Age 14-15, Ryan McCurdy, Total Score 228 ft.
All winners will move on to a Sectional Competition, to be held October 13 in Jefferson City. They could qualify for the Team Championship at Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis in conjunction with a St. Louis Rams game. The past two seasons, Columbia has sent someone all the way to the finals at an NFL playoff game. In one of those instances, a young lady (Eryn Puett) won the national Punt, Pass & Kick Championship.
