The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced today that beginning Thursday August 1, J.C. Industries of Jefferson City, will begin sidewalk reconstruction of the east side of Seventh Street
in downtown Columbia. This work will result in temporary sidewalk closure. Access to businesses along Seventh Street will remain open at all times during construction. The $327,777.95 project is funded by Community Development Block Grant, and the work should be completed by the end of August, weather permitting.
UPDATED - During construction, a traffic control plan is in place. Left turns from westbound Broadway onto southbound 7th are prohibited. Seventh St. between Broadway and Cherry has lane restrictions. Parking on the east side of 7th St. between Broadway and the alley is prohbited. Lane restrictions and shifts are in effect on Broadway between 8th and 6th Street.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible.
