POLICE ANNOUNCE WARRANT ROUND-UP
From 5/7/13 through 5/31/13, Columbia Police will be placing special emphasis on locating and arresting wanted individuals. The department is conducting the round-up with the goal of serving outstanding warrants for more serious city offenses, such as stealing, DWI, resisting arrest, etc. Warrants for non-payment of fines and costs ordered by the court will also be targeted. The Columbia Municipal Court has in excess of 2,000 outstanding warrants.
Police encourage those with outstanding warrants to voluntarily turn themselves in at the 6th Street lobby of the Police Department, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. People with outstanding warrants can also turn themselves in by going to the Columbia Municipal Court at 600 E. Broadway, Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. to pay their fines and/or costs. Taking care of warrants voluntarily is often much more convenient and expeditious than learning of a warrant after you come in contact with the police.
