THE COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT CRACKS DOWN ON IMPAIRED DRIVING
Columbia, MO - Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving. Law enforcement officers across Missouri will be cracking down on drunk driving with increased enforcement March 14-17. The Columbia Police Department will be participating in this effort and using grant money from the Missouri Department of Transportation-Traffic & Highway Safety Division to help pay for officers working overtime during this enforcement. This enforcement will include at least one sobriety checkpoint as well as increased saturation patrols. Motorists encountering a sobriety checkpoint should expect mininal delays.
It is never worth the risk to drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Drivers could lose their license, pay large fines, or worst of all, cause a tragic loss of life. In 2012, 231 people were killed and 841 seriously injured on Missouri roadways in crashes involving alcohol and drugs.
