Are people always telling you that you have a great voice? Do you often find yourself listening to your favorite audiobook, commercial or cartoon character and thinking, "I could do that?" Repair Your Own Plaster Workshop for Historic Homeowners - 113143

Repair Your Own Plaster: A Workshop for Historic Homeowners and the People Who Work on Historic Structures

Repairing plaster is a challenge for anyone who preserves and maintains older structures and wants to do as authentic a repair or restoration as possible. Our instructor, Eric Aulbach, has over 30 years experience in the trade, including traditional plaster repair, patching, skim coats, drywall repair, exterior stucco, polished Italian/Venetian plasters, ornamental, cove work and imitation marble in slab and veneer methods. Eric is a master of his craft. Eric has held seminars at the Missouri Preservation Conference for the last several years. His classes are in high demand at the conference, fill quickly and there is always a wait list.
You can visit his website at http://www.stlplastering.com.

In this workshop, you will learn to repair your own plaster patches. You will learn the basics of plastering. Eric will teach you what plaster is and the differences to drywall, the chemical reaction that takes place, safety, and simple short cuts to make quick work and achieve outstanding results. Simple repetitive exercises will be taught to give you the command of the tools so you get more on the walls than on yourself. Hands-on patch work on easels. Patch over lath work. (We will provide the easels, hawks & trowels) We will teach textures matching and blending. Introduction to 3 coat work. This workshop will help property owners save money by being able to patch plaster themselves. A typical 2 square foot ceiling patch in St Louis would cost between $350.00-450.00 to hire a plasterer to do the repair.

Informal Q&A as we get knee deep into plaster.

Please plan to check in no later than 8:45 a.m. so we can begin on time.

Lunch is provided. (We'll have both vegetarian and non vegetarian options.)

Other information:

Wear clothes you can get dirty and shoes with substantial protection from falling tools. No open toe shoes please.
