|Funding Fiscal Year:||
FY2018 - $200,000
|Funding Source:||2015 Park Sales Tax
Project Description: The construction of an agriculture park at Clary-Shy Park is a collaborative partnership between the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture, Columbia Farmers Market, Sustainable Farms and Communities and Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. The proposed improvements are planned for the 10-acres of open space at the park adjacent to the Activity and Recreation Center that were formerly known to Boone County citizens as the site of the county fairgrounds until 1992.
The phase I improvements are estimated to cost $1,200,000 with $400,000 in funding from the 2015 Park Sales Tax and the remaining funding provided through private donations and grants. The phase I improvements will include the construction of a portion of the permanent Farmers Market structure, parking, outdoor classroom and infrastructure needed for access to the Farmers Market. Remaining portions of the project will be completed as funding allows.
