Columbia Public Works announces that Trittenbach Construction and the City of Columbia will be installing storm water infrastructure and adding a left turn lane for east-bound Walnut Street traffic at College Ave. beginning on Monday, August 20.
- The work will begin on Monday, August 20 with a single lane closure on south-bound College Ave.at Walnut and Walnut closed between Hubble and College Ave. South-bound College Ave. will be reduced to a single lane. Both north-bound lanes will remain open on Monday and Tuesday.
- Wednesday, August 22 through Friday, August 24, both south-bound lanes will be closed. North-bound traffic will reduce to a single lane and one north-bound lane will be used for south-bound traffic, allowing for two-way single lane traffic.
The construction will cause minor changes to four Columbia Transit Routes.
- The 102 Blue, 103 Green, 104 Red, and 107 FastCAT routes will all detour around the construction area. A map is attached to this release and posted to the Transit web site. Columbia Transit riders may notice some increase in route times and changes to boarding stops.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution in the construction areas, allow extra time for commutes, and find alternative routes when possible.
The entire project is anticipated to be completed by Friday, August 24. All construction time frames are weather dependent.
