(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia anticipates receiving approximately $1,000,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $600,000 in HOME funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in FY 2022. Funds will be provided for CDBG and HOME eligible activities identified in the 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan. An informational session for any interested individuals or organizations will be held in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, on May 27, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
CDBG Funding
CDBG funds primarily benefit low to moderate income households, and can be used for affordable housing, economic development, community facilities and neighborhood infrastructure.
HOME Funding
Eligible HOME activities include: homebuyer assistance, new construction for homeownership or for rental occupancy by households with special needs, tenant-based rental assistance, and rehabilitation for homeownership or rental occupancy. All HOME assisted housing must benefit lower income households. Staff will review project eligibility; the Community Development Commission will review criteria, application submission procedures, and project implementation requirements.
