(Columbia,MO) The City ofColumbia Public Works Departmentannounces the hiring of Steven Sapp as the department's public information specialist. Sapp fills the role vacated by Jill Stedem in June. He began his duties Monday, July 9.
"We're pleased to have Sapp on board. With his previous experience with the City ofColumbia, and credibility and integrity within the community, we feel he will have an immediate impact," said Public Works Director John Glascock.
Sapp formerly filled the role as public information officer for the Columbia Fire department before his retirement at the end of June.
Sapp's duties include media relations, department press releases, assisting with marketing for several Public Works divisions and handling open records requests.
"I am honored to be chosen to fill this important role in the Public Works Department. Public Works projects and activities are very diverse and affect our customers in many important ways on a daily basis. Informing and educating our customers on those activities will be a primary focus," said Sapp.
