(COLUMBIA, MO) - On Sunday, August 19th, 2018 at 12:38 PM, units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a commercial structure fire at 108 Corporate Lake Drive. A passerby saw flames inside the door of a commercial building. Fire crews arrived five minutes later and observed flames inside the door of Suite A (Southport Marketplace).
Fire crews quickly forced open the front door and then extinguished the fire in approximately five minutes. No one was in the business at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The Columbia Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office conducted an on scene investigation. They determined the fire originated on a display shelf and the cause was electrical in nature. Damages were estimated at $10,000.
