(COLUMBIA, MO) - On Sunday, July 8th 2018 at 8:28 PM, units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to 2004 W. Worley (Kentucky Fried Chicken) for a commercial structure fire. The first unit arrived three minutes later and found fire visible from an exterior corner of the structure. Crews performed an aggressive fire attack and had the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. Fire was also extinguished in the interior walls and attic. A total of seven fire department units responded. No injuries were reported.
An investigator with the Columbia Fire Department conducted an on scene investigation. He determined the fire originated near an electrical service panel on the exterior of the structure, and spread to the interior via conduit. The cause was a short related to the electrical equipment. Damages to the structure are estimated at $30,000.
