[Update] Eight-person plow crew scheduled to begin operations at 8 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 7

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Update Details: The 8-person crew is now scheduled to report at 8 a.m. Sunday morning ahead of the potential winter event. Both the 8-person crew and the full 22-person crew will remain on call tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night to respond to any changing weather and road conditions.

Original Release:

With the possibility of a wintry mix sometime Sunday morning in the forecast, Columbia Public Works plans to have an eight-person plow crew in place overnight Saturday, Jan. 6 to monitor the weather, pretreat Designated Snow Routes and respond to changing road conditions as needed. A full 22-person crew will also be on call to respond if needed.

Weather forecasts should become more clear as the potential event nears. Freezing drizzle, sleet, snow, freezing rain and possibly rain could arrive mid-morning Sunday with slickness possible on untreated surfaces, forecasters say. There is also a possibility that rain could wash treatments off of treated surfaces with refreezing possible Sunday night requiring continuous operations.

Please drive slowly and according to road conditions. If you can't stay home during an active winter weather event, consider planning extra time for your travel.
