Multi-jurisdictional Effort Uncovers Drug Trafficking

 

On 3/12/12 at approximately 3:00 p.m., members of the Columbia Police Department's Patrol Bureau, Vice/Narcotics/Organized Crime (VNOC) Unit, Criminal Investigations Divison, and Forensic Evidence Team, along with the Boone County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Postal Inspectors, served four search warrants and conducted four traffic stops. The combined effort resulted in the discovery of drug evidence related to drug trafficking in Columbia and Boone County.

Search Warrants were conducted at the following addresses: 511 N. Providence, 604 N. Seventh Street, 1615 High Quest Circle and 1417 Stone Street. The searches uncovered evidence of a drug distribution operation including approximately 30 pounds of  marijuana, packaging materials, scales, cash and one firearm. Seven people were arrested as a result, but additional charges and arrests may be made as the investigation continues.

ARRESTED:

Eric Berry, 28, was arrested at 3:15 P.M. at 511 N. Providence for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance with a "to be set" bond. The U.S. Postal Inspectors obtained a Federal Search Warrant for a postal package to be delivered to 511 N. Providence Road. Upon execution of the warrant several pounds of high grade marijuana, paraphernalia, scales and cash were recovered.

Zachary Hare, 23, was arrested at 5:00 P.M. at 604 N. Seventh Street for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance with a "to be set" bond. The U.S. Postal Inspectors obtained a Federal Search Warrant for a postal package to be delivered to 604 N. Seventh Street. Upon execution of the warrant approximately one pound of high grade marijuana, cash and scales were recovered.

David Sobelman, 19, was arrested at 6:21 P.M. at 5950 N. Wagon Trail Road for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance with a "to be set" bond. The U.S. Postal Inspectors obtained a Federal Search Warrant pertaining to a postal package to be delivered to 1417 Stone Street. Once the package was delivered and the warrant was served at his residence on Stone Street, Sobelman was arrested during a traffic stop on Wagon Trail Road. Eight pounds of high grade marijuana and cash were recovered.

Evelyn Dunkin, 18, was arrested at 8:21 P.M. at 1417 Stone Street for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance with a "to be set" bond. Dunkin admitted to receiving packages of marijuana for Sobelman on multiple occasions. 

John Renfro,  24, was arrested at 6:38 P.M. at 2300 Sears Court for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance with a "to be set" bond. Renfro was observed entering 1615 High Quest Circle with a black bag and then leaving again a short time later. After conducting a traffic stop of Renfro officers located over one pound of high grade marijuana and cash. Renfro admitted he was planning to distribute the drug for profit.

Soeum Lem, 25, was arrested at 6:56 P.M. at Derby Ridge Drive and Citadel for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance with a "to be set" bond. Lem was observed leaving 1417 Stone Street with a clothes hamper and going to 1615 High Quest Circle. Shortly after his arrival at the High Quest Circle address Renfro arrived with the black bag, went inside briefly, then left again with the black bag. Officers learned from Renfro that he purchased the marijuana from Lem. A traffic stop was conducted on Lem and he was taken into custody.

Michael Neubauer, 27, was arrested at 3:15 P.M. at 511 N. Providence Road for distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance with a "to be set" bond. United States Postal Inspectors obtained a federal search warrant for a postal package delivered to that address. After the package was delivered the warrant was served and Neubauer was arrested.
