Nifong Improvement Project (Providence to Willowcreek)
Forum Improvement Project (Nifong to Green Meadows)
The City of Columbia Public Works Department has scheduled an informal open house meeting concerning future improvements to Nifong Boulevard between Providence and Willowcreek (just west of Forum Boulevard) and to Forum Boulevard between Nifong and Green Meadows. This public meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Gentry Middle School, 4200 Bethel St. in Columbia.
The purpose of this meeting is to present design concepts intended to increase safety and traffic flow. The proposed improvements include widening the roads to four lanes with left turn lanes, modifying the intersections, adding bike lanes and sidewalks and providing access management.
Information and diagrams showing the preliminary design concepts will be available for public review. Engineering Surveys & Services, the design firm, will be available to discuss the proposed improvements.
The meeting will be an open house format with a public comment form available. Diagrams of the proposed improvements can be found on the City's website at www.como.gov/publicworks/nifong-corridor for the Nifong project and www.como.gov/publicworks/forum-gm-to-nifong for the Forum project.
Construction of these improvement projects is currently planned for 2020, subject to the City's public involvement process and City Council action.
