Shots fired in the 1000 block of Claudell Lane

At approximately 1:12 a.m. today, Boone County Joint Communications received multiple calls regarding shots heard in the area of Columbia Square Apartments on Claudell Lane. Columbia Police officers were dispatched to the area at 1:14 a.m.

Upon officers' arrival, they located a residence in the 1000 block of Claudell Lane that had been struck by gunfire. The residence appeared to have been unoccupied at the time the shots were fired. Officers located multiple shell casings and other evidence in the area. There were no reports of injuries and the amount of property damage is unknown at this time. Witnesses in the area reported seeing three black males flee the area on foot after the shots were fired. The investigation is on-going.
