Columbia Parks and Recreation is holding a drop-in public meeting regarding the bridge replacement project on the MKT Trail and the trail detour. The drop-in meeting will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21 trailside at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial/MKT Stadium Trailhead, 800 W. Stadium Blvd.
Park planners will provide detour maps and project information regarding improvements to MKT bridges 5 and 7. If funding allows, bridge 8 will also be replaced. Construction work will require a full closure of the trail section from the northeast side of the 3M Wetlands to just southwest of the Stadium Boulevard underpass. Work is scheduled to begin Nov. 27.
The project is funded by the voter-approved Park Sales Tax and a Recreational Trails Program grant.
