The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced on Sept. 1 that Sam Gaines construction plans to begin construction of median islands on Providence Road, between Turner Avenue and Stadium Boulevard, the evenings of Sept 5, 6 and 7. The work, which is part of the Providence Road Improvement Project, is scheduled to begin each evening at 6 p.m. and finish by 6 a.m. the following morning, weather permitting. The passing lane in each direction will be closed.
Providence Road will continue to remain open during the work, but motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when passing through the work zone. Minor delays are a possibility so taking alternate routes should be considered.
The Providence Road Improvement Project remains on schedule for completion by early fall 2017. Check CoMo.gov/PublicWorks/Providence-improvement for details.
