A total of 51 athletes from Columbia's Blue Thunder Track Club qualified and 39 competed in the AAU National Junior Olympic Games track and field events held at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The athletes also competed in the USA Track and Field (USATF) Jr. Olympics in Lawrence, Kansas. More than 10,000 athletes from all over the U.S. and Puerto Rico competed from July 29 to Aug. 5 in Ypsilanti and 8,000 competed in Lawrence the week prior.
Four total national championships were won; and 13 All-American crowns were earned.
