Columbia youth win four championships, 13 All-American crowns at AAU

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

A total of 51 athletes from Columbia's Blue Thunder Track Club qualified and 39 competed in the AAU National Junior Olympic Games track and field events held at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The athletes also competed in the USA Track and Field (USATF) Jr. Olympics in Lawrence, Kansas.  More than 10,000 athletes from all over the U.S. and Puerto Rico competed from July 29 to Aug. 5 in Ypsilanti and 8,000 competed in Lawrence the week prior.

Four total national championships were won; and 13 All-American crowns were earned.

Blue Thunder's All American performances are:

Jackson Cantwell, 9-year-olds, shot put, 30-6 1/2, 2nd place

Jackson Cantwell, 9-year-olds, turbo javelin, 89-9, 4th place

Nicholas Timbrook, 9-year-olds, triathlon, 551 points, 4th place

Collin Wise, 10-year-olds, 1500-meter race walk, 8:14.35, national champion  

Jayden McCaster, 10-year-olds, high jump, 41 1/4, 4th place

Jayden McCaster, 10-year-olds, turbo javelin, 83-4, 6th place

Brock Schweikert, 10-year-olds, 1500-meter race walk, 9:12.67, 2nd place

Chiasia Maxwell, 10-year-olds, 1500-meter race walk, 9:01.44, 2nd place

Kaleb Schweikert, 12-year-olds, 1500-meter race walk, 9:42.82, 7th place

Hannah Wise, 13-year-olds, 3000-meter race walk, 18:59.98, 4th place

Kevin Schweikert, 14-year-olds, 3000-meter race walk, 17:19.66, national champion

Joshua Henderson, 14-year-olds, discus, 151-4, 3rd place

Mya White, 14-year-olds, 3000-meter race walk, 23:37.72, 8th place

Kurtis Schweikert, 15-16-year-olds, 3000-meter race walk, 17:30.86, 3rd place

Peyton Davis, 15-16-year-olds, high jump, 6-3/4, 5th place
