Beginning Wednesday, July 5 at 8 a.m., Milam Contracting is scheduled to begin road work affecting the travel lanes on Fay Street, between Hinkson Avenue and the COLT Railroad. Lane shifts will be phased such that one direction of travel will be open at all times.
The work will include installing a new hydrant and making street cuts across Fay Street for storm sewer and sanitary sewer service. The work is associated with the development project at 602 Fay St.
There is no sidewalk on this section of Fay Street. Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when near the work zone and use an alternate route when possible.
The work associated with these lane closures is scheduled to be completed by 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, weather permitting Milam Contracting has a work permit approved by the City of Columbia.
