Columbia Police officers responded to the 2200 block of Faulkner Court at 7:32 p.m. yesterday in reference to past shots fired.
Upon officers' arrival they were advised by a witness that multiple shell casings were located in the roadway of Oakland Gravel Road just south of East Brown School Road. The witness reported at approximately 5:30 p.m., a charcoal colored vehicle and a white colored vehicle were in the area and the drivers of the vehicles appeared to be shooting at one another. At the time, no injuries or property damage was reported.
At 8:46 p.m., Boone County Joint Communications received a call regarding past shots fired in the 2100 block of Dickinson Court. The caller reported hearing "pops" around 5:30 p.m. The caller originally believed the noise to be fireworks, however, later located evidence of gunfire.
Officers were dispatched to the area at 8:54 p.m. Upon their arrival, they located two residences in the area that had been struck by bullets. The rounds traveled through multiple exterior and interior walls of both of the homes. One of the residences was occupied by adults and children. There were no reported injuries and the amount of property damage is unknown at this time.
The Criminal Investigations Division is actively working these two incidents. The preliminary investigation suggests these two incidents of gunfire may be related, however, the investigation is on-going.
