The 2017 Family Fun Fest series kicks off Wednesday, May 17 at Cosmo Park, 1615 Business Loop 70 W. The "Kindness is Contagious" Family Fun Fest will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
Columbia Parks and Recreation hosts Family Fun Fests the third Wednesday of each month from May through September. Activities are free.
This month's event is sponsored by Children's Grove and Putting Kids First and will feature music, fun, crafts, and activities that promote kindness and mental health. Kids will also have the chance to check out a fire truck from the City of Columbia and the Daniel Boone Library's Book Mobile.
Food trucks will also be available, including the Big Cheeze, Kona Ice, Manzo's Pizza, Smoothie King and StreetDogs hot dog cart.
The Fun Fests offer a different theme each month including music, live performances, art activities, bounce-houses, hands-on learning, food trucks, face painting, balloon art and fun for all ages.
The Family Fun Fest series is sponsored by ParentLink, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, KPLA 101.5, KOMU TV 8 and Tigers Community Credit Union.
