Hundreds of Columbia residents will head to Stephens Lake Park on Saturday, May 20 for Rock the Community, a free family event aimed to empower Columbia residents with positive programming and a fun atmosphere. There will be live music, food and local vendors present. The event begins at 3 p.m. and will end at 9 p.m.
The City's public transit system, COMO Connect, will provide public transportation to the event at no charge to the rider. COMO Connect will provide rides on all of the bus system's fixed routes and paratransit routes for the entire city.
Due to limited parking, COMO Connect is extending the No. 10 Red Downtown Orbiter route, which will travel east down Walnut Street to the west entrance of Stephens Lake Park, along Old Highway 63.
"Last year, we held the event in Douglass Park and many folks walked from their homes to the event," Event Director Rita Renee said. "We believe that by offering free transportation to Stephens Lake Park, we can get residents from all wards to experience the event."
City parking garages are not enforced on Saturday. All COMO Connect buses are ADA accessible.
Saturday bus service begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m.
For more information on the event, search Rock the Community on Facebook and Twitter.
