On April 29, 2017, the Columbia Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Broadway near West Blvd. This operation began at approximately 10:36 p.m. and concluded at approximately 11:51 p.m. The checkpoint was shortened by inclement weather.
The purpose of this operation was to increase safety on the roadways of Columbia by identifying those drivers who may be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
During the sobriety checkpoint officers arrested 3 individuals for driving while intoxicated and conducted field sobriety testing on 21 individuals.
Approximately 118 vehicles were checked during the sobriety checkpoint.
The Columbia Police Department wishes to thank the citizens of The City of Columbia and Boone County, Mo., for their patience and cooperation during this operation.
This event was funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation Division of Highway Safety.
