Columbia Police officers responded to the 1400 block of Greensboro Drive at 9:26 p.m. yesterday in reference to a gunshot wound victim.
Upon officers' arrival, they located a male victim, 17, with a gunshot wound to the hand. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and another male subject, 17, were outside a residence in the area when a dark colored SUV with unknown occupants pulled up. The occupants fired rounds at the two males, striking the victim in the hand. The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers located multiple shell casings in the area from two different firearms. A residence in the 5300 block of Currituck Lane was struck by a single round of gunfire. There were no further reported injuries or property damage. The investigation is on-going.
