Columbia Police officers responded to the 2600 block of Morning Glory Drive yesterday at 9:14 p.m. in reference to a burglary in progress.
The preliminary investigation revealed three suspects forced entry into a residence in the area. Two of the three suspects were armed with firearms. One suspect fired several rounds in the home. The same suspect proceeded to strike a male victim, 47, with the firearm. The suspects received an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency before fleeing the scene to a nearby vehicle. There were no reported injuries as a result of the fired rounds inside the residence. At least two occupants were present inside the residence at the time of the incident. The amount of property damage is unknown at this time. The investigation is on-going.
