United Airlines to begin service at Columbia Regional Airport

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

United Airlines announced on Monday, February 27 that they will begin services at Columbia Regional Airport (COU) with daily service to Denver International Airport (DIA) and twice daily service to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) beginning on August 1.

Reservations for flights between COU and DIA are available for booking at United.com immediately.

The new daily flight from COU to Denver combined with the daily flights to Chicago O'Hare now connect passengers to three of the top five megahub airports in the U.S.. Denver's Stapleton Airport  is ranked as the fourth most connected megahub in the U.S. with Chicago ranked first.

"We welcome United Airlines and their new service routes at COU. Bringing new destinations and service to COU is one of our highest priorities to enhance the growth of COU as an economic engine in Columbia and mid-Missouri," said Stacey Button, Director of Economic Development."

United Airlines will provide one flight daily to Denver and two flights daily to Chicago O'hare using 50-seat regional aircraft.

"United's new service between Columbia and Denver International Airport offers United customers a much wider array of domestic and international travel options," said Andrew Bell, United's manager of Sales in Missouri. "With numerous available connections at our Denver hub, we are confident that business and leisure travelers from Columbia will benefit greatly from this flight."

In previous Passenger Demand Analysis, Denver was one of the top requested destinations to and from COU. With over 411 daily peak departures, 115 domestic connections and nine international destinations through United Airlines at Denver's Stapleton International Airport, this new connection will provide many additional options for business and leisure travelers in mid-Missouri.

"We are thrilled United Airlines recognizes the value of the Columbia and mid-Missouri market," said Mayor Brian Treece.  "Denver is an exciting destination which opens up new business and leisure opportunities as well as new western U.S. connections and additional international connections."

The new service lines will add an additional 150 seats per day for a total 417 seats per day from COU. This brings us within reach of our "40 by 20 Goal" which would provide the capacity to serve forty percent of the needs of people who fly daily in COU's 13 county catchment area.
