ARREST MADE FROM SHOTS FIRED IN THE 1500 BLOCK OF RALEIGH DRIVE

                      ARREST MADE FROM SHOTS FIRED IN THE 1500 BLOCK OF RALEIGH DRIVE

On 9/27/16 at 8:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shots fired call in the 1500 block of Raleigh Drive. Officers arrived on scene and located three separate residences that were struck by bullets.

On 10/15/16 at 1:15 p.m., detectives were able to establish through their investigation that Mariquan M. Midgyett was in possession of a handgun and in the area the day of the shots fired on Raleigh Drive. Detectives applied for a warrant for Midgyett for Unlawful Use of Weapons Felony.

On 10/18/16 at 4:54 p.m., Vice Narcotics and Organized Crime (VNOC) Detectives and Street Crimes Detectives were in the 3900 block of White Tiger Lane in an attempt to locate Mariquan Midgyett.  VNOC detectives saw Midgyett standing in a parking lot on White Tiger Lane. As Street Crimes Detectives pulled up in a marked car, Midgyett took off running with something in his hand. VNOC detectives saw Midgyett jump a fence into a backyard of residence in the 800 block of Quick Sand Circle. VNOC detectives saw a handgun in Midgyett's left hand when he went to jump the fence. Midgyett was taken into custody in the backyard of a residence in the 800 block of Quick Sand Circle without any further incident.

Mariquan Mershad Midgyett, age 18, from Columbia, was arrested for Unlawful Use of Weapons Felony, Misdemeanor Warrant for Failure to Appear for theft, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of Weapons Felony.
