MEDIA RELEASE - 8/28/16
TWO ARRESTED FROM SHOTS FIRED ON CLAUDELL LANE
On 10/1/16 at 4:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Claudell Lane in reference to shots fired.
Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect vehicle in Columbia Square Apartments. The driver of the vehicle, Rod Jamal Jones, age 33, from Illinois, had a handgun in his waistband. Jones took off on foot and was taken into custody at Stadium and Ash Street.
The passenger of the vehicle, Marlin Cortez Johnson, age 20, from Columbia, exited the vehicle and officers ordered him to the ground. Officers went to take Johnson into custody when he tried to pull away from officers. Johnson was taken into custody.
Officers located multiple shell casings at the scene that matched live rounds inside the suspect vehicle.
Rod Jamal Jones was arrested for Possession or Sale of Certain Weapons Prohibited, Felony Resisting or Interfering with an Arrest, and Misdemeanor Stealing.
Marlin Cortez Johnson was arrested for resisting or interfering with an arrest. Jones and Johnson were transported and released to the Boone County Jail.
