The Public Works Department announced on Monday that Capital Paving, a subcontractor for the City of Columbia, has rescheduled the milling and overlay of sections of Conley Road for tonight, Sept. 12, and next Monday, Sept. 19, weather permitting. The work is scheduled to take place in the evening after 9 p.m.
Crews plan to mill the road tonight then return to lay asphalt next Monday night. Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users should expect temporary lane closures while milling or overlay is being performed. Flaggers will be on hand to redirect traffic if necessary.
Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users should use caution in the work zones to protect themselves and the safety of workers. Traffic is permitted on the road after it is milled, so no detours are planned. Once the street is overlaid, traffic may drive on the asphalt almost immediately.
