DEATH INVESTIGATION ON I70 WESTBOUND AT MILE MARKER 126
On 7/26/16 at 10:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to Providence Road and I-70 for a check subject. Boone County Joint Communications advised a caller reported seeing a male looking and leaning on the guardrail over the Providence Bridge, looking like he might jump.
Officers arrived on scene and started to make contact with the male subject when he jumped off the bridge onto I-70 Westbound. After the male jumped he was struck by a vehicle on I-70 Westbound. Medics arrived and pronounced the male subject dead at the scene. Officers shut down I-70 Westbound from Range Line Street to West Boulevard for three hours.
Officers identified the deceased as a 37-year- old male from Columbia whose family has been notified.
