Red Bay Creek Road buckle scheduled for permanent repair July 26-Aug. 3

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The Public Works Department announced Monday that it has scheduled repairs from July 26 to Aug. 3 for a road buckle that occurred July 23 on Red Bay Creek Road in the Mill Creek Manor subdivision in south Columbia.

Cook Concrete, a subcontractor for the City of Columbia, has closed the section of the road needing repair. Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to use caution in the work zone and use alternate routes.

Pavement buckles are a common occurrence around the country during times of warmer temperatures and moisture. The most recent pavement buckle in Columbia received a temporary repair June 23 shortly after it occurred on Steeplechase Road and was permanently repaired July 13.

The Red Bay Creek Road buckle was called in to Boone County Joint Communications by a resident on Saturday, July 23, and the Street Division of Columbia Public Works responded by placing temporary barricades until repair plans could be announced.
