The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced Thursday that construction of the Manor Drive sidewalk project was completed on schedule earlier this week. The construction phase of the project, which began March 21, is funded by a Federal Non-Motorized Transportation Grant. A sidewalk was constructed on the east side of Manor Drive from Rollins Road to Manor Court and on the west side from Manor Court to Broadway. The City will return to the area in the fall to lay sod along the sidewalk.
In an effort to reduce the impact to the neighborhood, the Public Works Department and Columbia Utilities coordinated stormwater and drinking water system improvements with the planned sidewalk project. In March, the Columbia Sewer Utility installed approximately 85 feet of new 24-inch pipe along Manor Drive in preparation for the Manor Drive/Maplewood Drive Stormwater project to be constructed in FY 2017.
Columbia Water & Light is currently upgrading an existing 6-inch water line on Manor Drive between Broadway and Rollins Street to an 8-inch water line. The upgraded water line will increase the amount of water that can be delivered to the area for consumers and for firefighting purposes. Traffic restrictions will likely continue through August for the water project on Manor Drive. Customers will be individually notified of any water service disruptions during this project.
