The week of May 23 to May 27, the Plaza Garage at Eighth and Walnut in downtown Columbia will not allow parking permit holders to use their proximity cards to enter and exit the garage.
Parking Utility is replacing the motherboard in the DoorKing system that operates the proximity card reader and gate arm. The work was originally scheduled to take one day but will take longer.
Motorists will be required to stop at the gate arm and pull a white ticket the same way that the hourly patrons do. However, there will be no charge for permit holders when exiting the facility.
Permit holders will need to keep their white ticket and exit through the attendant's booth, stopping to show the attendant their proximity card. The attendant will let permit holders exit without being required to pay.
More information about the City of Columbia Parking Utility, a division of Public Works, is available online at CoMo.gov or by calling (573) 874-2489.
