On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 9 a.m., Forum Boulevard will be restricted to one lane for several hours to allow the contractor to receive the structural steel beams for the Forum Pedestrian Bridge over Hinkson Creek.
"This process is expected to take approximately three hours, but there are several factors including weather that could slow this process," said David Fennewald, construction project superintendent for the Public Works Department, City of Columbia. "Flag men or women will be present to direct traffic around the work area. Delays should be minimal."
This restriction on traffic is needed since it is the safest option to get the structural steel on site. An alternate date of May 25 has been scheduled in case of rain. Motorists are urged to use caution in work zones and avoid this area Tuesday morning if possible.
