Columbia Parks and Recreation Plans Yappy Hour

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Join Columbia Parks and Recreation, in partnership with KPLA, KFRU, BXR, Nash FM, and Mizzou's Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department for the first ever Yappy Hour. The event will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on April 16 at Twin Lakes Recreation Area, 2500 Chapel Hill Road.

Yappy Hour will feature entertainment for dogs to include an obstacle course, contests for the best dressed, best trick and best vocal performance as well as fun for humans with live entertainment, photo booth, screen printed t-shirts and craft beer sampling. Dog-related businesses will be on site to show off products and services they provide for man's (and woman's) best friend.

Cost of registration is $12 through April 11. After that date, registration is $15. The price includes admission for one person and one dog plus a goody bag with t-shirt, one drink voucher and other giveaways. A $5 admission price is available for those not bringing a dog or accompanying a person with a dog.

Yappy Hour is an adult event; only those 18 and over are allowed in the specified event area. Dogs must wear their current rabies tags to the event and retractable leashes are not allowed. Minimum of one person per dog will be allowed.
