Parks and Recreation to Host Youth Track Meet

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia's Youth Intro Track Meet will take place at Hickman High School, 1104 N. Providence Road, on April 16. Check-in for the meet is from 9 to 9:45 a.m. with the event beginning at 10 a.m.

The meet is being organized by Parks and Recreation and is open to boys and girls. Available events are: 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes, 800- and 1600-meter runs, 4x100 meter relay, standing long jump and softball throw. Participants can enter a maximum of three events with exception to the 4x100m relay. Some events are only available for certain age groups. The top three finishers of each event earn ribbons. 

Cost of the meet is $5 and is for boys and girls born between 2004-2010. Athletes are allowed to wear track shoes if they desire.

Registration form, the registration fee and a copy of proof of age must be turned in by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13 at Columbia Parks and Recreation, 1 South Seventh St. or the Armory Sports Center, 701 E. Ash St. Registration forms may be faxed to 573-874-7640 or scanned and emailed to [email protected]create new email. No walk-up registrations will be allowed at this event.
