The cost to join the club is $100. This price includes unlimited sanctioned meet entry fees, club t-shirt and an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) membership. Cash, check and money orders will be accepted for payment, however, credit and debit cards cannot be accepted. Parents should bring proof of health insurance as well as a copy of the registrant's birth certificate to registration.
Blue Thunder is open to all skill levels. The Club gives youth the opportunity to compete in sprints, middle distance, long distance, jumps, throws, hurdles, relays and race walks. The season will begin in April and last through the end of July. Meets are held in Columbia and out of town. Qualifiers will have the opportunity to compete in the AAU National Junior Olympic Games in Houston, TX in early August. After the outdoor season ends, information will be provided to athletes for the fall cross country season.
Registration forms can be found at the Parks and Recreation office at 1 South 7th St., the Armory Sports Center or simply downloaded from the Blue Thunder web site.
