The entrance road leading into the Twin Lakes Recreation Area from Chapel Hill Road will be closed to public traffic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays starting on October 26. Work is beginning that day to replace the road, which will limit access into the park. The parking lots will also be closed at these times. Closures will continue until the work is completed.
Park users will be able to use the road after 3 p.m. and on weekends, although there may be lane closures at times. The MKT Trail and the new County House Trail accesses into the park will both remain open as will other park amenities, including the shelter, playground and dog park.
The road closures are planned to help ensure safety for the public while the road is under construction. Park patrons who frequent the dog park at Twin Lakes may also visit other fenced dog parks at Garth Nature Area and Indian Hills Park. Off-leash areas are available at Grindstone Nature Area and the Bear Creek Nature Area in Cosmo Park.
Weather permitting, the new Twin Lakes road may be finished in November.
