COMO Connect's Free-Ride promotion for city buses ends this week

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

COMO Connect would like to remind customers that the "Free-Ride" promotion on the city's fixed bus routes ends this week. Normal fares will resume Thursday, October 1.

The bus system offered customers nearly six full weeks of free ridership in celebration of their 50 year anniversary this fall, and hoped it would be a great time to encourage new customers to try public transportation for the first time. August and September ridership numbers will be released in the coming weeks as the numbers are collected.

Drew Brooks, the City's Multi-Modal Manager says "Offering this period of free rides was a great way to say ‘thank you' to the community that has supported public transportation for the last 50 years. It's an important service for the city to offer and we hope to be able to offer it for the next 50 years as well."

COMO Connect plans to offer free-ride promotions again in the future to help boost community awareness and to encourage new customers to try different modes of transportation.

Normal fares resuming October 1 include One-Way fares for $1.50, All-Day Passes for $3.00, Students 18 and under with a student ID always ride for free, and customers can save money with a variety of bus passes available.

For questions about fares, half-fare eligibility, bus passes, and other services COMO Connect offers, customers can visit www.COMOconnect.org, call 573-874-7282, or email [email protected]create new email.
