COLUMBIA POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO REPORTS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

On 09/19/2015, in the early morning hours, the Columbia Police Department received two reports of sexual assaults in the downtown area. 

At approximately 1:50 A.M. an 18 year old female reported she was walking to her vehicle which was parked in the Eighth and Cherry Street parking garage. She reported being grabbed from behind by an unknown white male who sexually assaulted her inside the garage. 

At approximately 2:57 A.M. a 22 year old female reported that she was in the area of Hitt Street and Broadway when she accepted a ride from an unknown male.  The suspect reportedly drove her to the area of William Street and University Avenue where he sexually assaulted her and kicked her out of the vehicle. 

The Criminal Investigations Division has been notified and is continuing with the investigations.  No arrests have been made and no further details are available for release at this time.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbia Police Department or call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875- TIPS. 

The Columbia Police Department wants to remind everyone to be safe when enjoying our City and to be aware of your surroundings, look out for each other, use the buddy system and avoid walking alone, don't accept rides from strangers and report suspicious activity when it occurs.
