Revised Schedule for Parks and Recreation Family Fun Fest

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

"Creative Kids" will be the theme of the last Family Fun Fest of 2011. Parks and Recreation is partnering with the City's Office of Cultural Affairs to hold the free event from 6 to 8 p.m. on September 21 at Flat Branch Park.

Don't miss entertainment on two stages plus interactive activities for children. A revised schedule of entertainment includes:

Flat Branch Stage

6 p.m.: T.R.Y.P.S. (Theater Reaching Young People and Schools)

6:45 p.m.: Missouri Contemporary Ballet

7:30 p.m.: Babaloo Music and Fun (interactive musical comedy)

Spraygrounds Stage

6 p.m.: Odyssey Chamber Music Series (chamber music duo)

6:45 p.m.: P.A.C.E. (Performing Arts in Children's Education)

Visual and literary arts will include: Access Arts with clay sculptures, A-frames for chalk and dry-erase art, Box City created by Shepard Elementary fifth graders, chalk art demonstration by Travis Nelson, make-a-magnet by the City's CARE Gallery, shaving cream art by Parks and Recreation, Recylebration by Columbia Public Works, Art in the Park scavenger hunt by the Columbia Art League, Bookmobile by the Daniel Boone Regional Library, face painting, and a magnetic poetry wall.  

The Creative Kids event is made possible with financial support from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

The Family Fun Fests have been sponsored by the Convention & Visitors Bureau, KPLA 101.5, KOMU TV8, EntPro Entertainment and Columbia Home.
