COMO Connect city buses will be in service and running a reduced schedule on Friday, July 3rd, despite many city offices being closed to observe the Independence Day holiday. The reduced service schedule will be equivalent to a typical "Saturday schedule." Para-Transit services will be available.
The differences in the reduced schedule on Friday include:
- hours of operation being reduced to 10am-8pm (instead of the usual 6:25am-8pm).
- no service on the 7 Dark Green route in south Columbia and no service on the 11 Aqua commuter route in north Columbia near Prathersville Rd.
- reduced frequency of bus service at bus stop locations (buses will switch back and forth between nearby routes to offer consistent service to all routes during the reduced schedule, but with lower frequency at some bus stop locations)
Saturday, July 4th
Buses will run on Saturday, July 4, 2015 on their normal Saturday schedule from 10am-8pm. There will also be the addition of one late night trip after the downtown fireworks show ends. City buses will be parked at the downtown Wabash Bus Station (126 N Tenth) to take customers home on any of the city bus routes after the fireworks show lets out. Buses will all depart the station at 10:15pm for a single run of each route, including the 7DarkGreen and 11Aqua routes as needed.
Drew Brooks, the City's Multi-Modal Manager says "COMO Connect is excited to offer a safe ride home to customers after all the July 4th celebrations downtown. These special events are actually a great way for people to try our local public transit when they normally drive a personal vehicle. We want everyone to know how to use the bus in case they ever need it."
Buses will be clearly marked for their routes and staff will help direct customers to the proper bus for this special set-up at the station. Normal fare rates apply for the late night trip.
