On 4/9/15 at 6:56 A.M., officers were dispatched to a leaving the scene accident at East Business Loop 70 and Old Highway 63. The investigation revealed a two vehicle accident at that location with possible injuries to the driver, later identified as Joshua Skouby. A box truck was traveling through a green light at the intersection when the driver of the pick-up truck ran a red light and was struck by the box truck. The pick-up truck spun in the intersection and flipped on its side.
A witness reported the truck was on its side and the driver appeared to be injured. Another witness stopped to help the pick-up driver in the accident and Skouby took the witness's vehicle which was a silver Ford Mustang and fled the scene heading east on Business Loop 70. The driver of the box truck and the witness whose vehicle was stolen were not injured.
Officers contacted area hospitals to see if the suspect came in to the hospital with injuries and put out information to all surrounding law enforcement agencies with the suspect description along with the stolen vehicle.
On 4/9/15 at 7:10 A.M., officers contacted Robinson's Cleaners at 1204 E. Business Loop 70 since their company's pick-up truck was involved in a leaving the scene accident. Robinson's Cleaners advised their pick-up truck had been stolen sometime overnight. The pick-up truck was towed from the scene.
On 4/9/15 at 8:40 A.M., an officer was checking the area for the stolen silver Ford Mustang when the officer observed the vehicle near Route B and East Highway HH. The officer initiated their emergency equipment and the driver refused to pull over. The officer was in a short vehicle pursuit with the driver of the stolen vehicle when the vehicle spun out and the driver took off on foot. The officer arrested Skouby and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for injuries he incurred during the accident.
